My Obsession

Well, I decided it was about time for a new blog post.  Life has been so super busy, and truthfully, there are very few things that I have to write about.  So here is a quick sum-up:

1. Greg is doing well in school, and will be starting an internship at 3M in May.  It is paid, and we are very excited about that.

2. I am loving my job as a music specialist, and the bookstore, but I am applying for a full time teaching position for next year.  I do love my jobs, but it would be easier to just have my focus in one place, and then I would be able to get health benefits.

3. We both have been doing pretty well with exercise and eating better.  And that's about it... :)

It also brings me to what I wanted to post about today... my obsession - food!  In the past I would get super excited about losing weight and wanting to be more healthy for a day or two, and then the fire would slowly dwindle as the days went on, until I had completely forgotten what I was trying to do.  I have finally discovered how to keep up the motivation for me, and that is to become obsessed.  :) (in a good way, not the crazy person way)

One of the wonderful things about working at the bookstore is that most of the time I'm in the back putting books into the computer, and can listen to anything that I want.  So I started logging in to netflix and listened to documentaries, mostly about food, or running. I would also, In my very small amount of free time, read books about nutrition, running, health etc.  (Another good thing about working at a bookstore :)

I have come into several people's opinions that contradict each other, and had to decide for myself what I believe.  One of the contestants on The Biggest Loser said that you never do stop learning, and it's so true!  I was just reading today about Grapeseed oil, and how it actually should not be heated, otherwise it is damaged, and breaks down into more free radicals.... I know, right! lol (yes, I am a nerd, and I don't care :P)
Anyway, it's exciting to me, and I love learning about things.

I believe in knowledge.  I believe in balance, and I'm excited about the life changes that Greg and I have made.  I was feeling a little bummed the other day about how slow progress seems to be going, and then I found this quote. "Weight control habits that lead to permanent weight loss take time.  Be patient, and have a good time with it." Weider.  So that's the plan!

Lastly, I have been wanting to try a triathalon for forever, and Greg gave me this great idea the other day.  He said that I should blog about my "journey" (p.s. I hate when people refer to it as a journey.  I think it's so cheesy when people saying it on the biggest loser, and I literally racked my brain for any other word...but could not think of one.  So there's a little cheese for you today. )   thus far, and keep blogging about getting ready for the half marathon, and the triathalon.  I do have another blog that I had to make for a school project that is about my weight loss goals.  There is a link on this page to it if you want to check it out, but honestly, I'm writing it mostly for me.  So if you are not interested, that is completely fine with me.

Thanks to our friends and family for the never-ending love and support!
